Prudential Bank Staff Donate Blood to Support National Blood Bank

Staff of Prudential Bank in conjunction with the National Blood Service have embarked on a blood donation exercise in a move to contribute to the national blood bank save lives.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Bank's Human Resource Department, saw the volunteering staff converge to donate blood at the Bank’s Head Office in Accra in a bid to help stock up the country's blood bank.

The Managing Director of the Bank, Bernard Gyebi, emphasized the significance of the initiative, saying, "At Prudential Bank, we are committed to supporting national efforts to improve lives. The blood donation exercise we just undertook is a testament to this commitment to contribute our quota to save lives. We are dedicated to making a difference and contributing to a brighter future for all."

Head of Human Resource at Prudential Bank Lilian A. Asante, whose outfit championed the campaign said the exercise is part of the Bank's commitment to giving back to the community and ensuring that there is adequate blood supply for those in need.

"We believe that our employees have a responsibility to make a positive impact in their communities, and what better way to do this than by donating blood?" Ms. Asante said.

Blood donation is a critical aspect of healthcare, and its importance cannot be overstated. Blood is essential for medical procedures, including surgeries, transfusions, and treatments for patients with blood disorders. However, blood supply in Ghana is often in short supply, making initiatives like Prudential Bank's crucial in bridging the gap.

An Officer at the National Blood Service, Joyce Oppong Adu commended the Bank and its staff for their generosity.

"We are grateful to Prudential Bank for organizing this blood donation exercise. It is a great example of corporate Ghana's commitment to giving back to the community. Blood is critical in the health supply chain as such we are appealing to other corporate bodies to follow Prudential Bank's example to sustain the national blood stock,” she said.

The exercise was coordinated by officials from the National Blood Service, who ensured that the process was smooth and safe for all donors.

Some staff who participated in the exercise shared their reasons for donating blood which included to help people who need the blood, support the blood banks in hospitals, and assist the poor who can't afford to buy blood.
